Waiting for the Planes - #2

Up to this point, the busiest men in the squadron had been assigned to administration, supply, and parts. The rest of us had pulled tedious details and been bored. That would change in a few minutes ... from this point forward the area would be off limits to cameras (except base photographers), the 482nd red caps would appear within a week or so, and we were told to shape up a little as the base water supply was becoming less rusty and the possibility of white T-Shirts loomed ahead. No problem. We fell to it with a will that reached high level a year later with the 1958 William Tell Meet at Tyndall. And again with the Cuban Missile Crisis. We shaped up real good.
