Harold Nathaniel Absher, 77, died Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois. He was born on March 30, 1932, in Fork Ridge, Virginia, a son of the late Roy and Mary Green Absher. He was a career retiree from the United States Air Force and then from Holiday Tours. He attended Pleasant Garden Holiness Church.
Mr. Absher is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kitty Wilson Absher; a daughter, Selena Lee Absher Fleming (D. Scott) of Randleman; a son, Rev. John Edward Absher (S. Milena) of Plainfield, IL; three brothers, Rev. Daniel Lee Absher (Shirley), Rev. Arnold K. Absher (Rickie), both of Pleasant Garden, and Rev. Freeman Edward Absher (Joann dec'd); six sisters, Freida Willien (Billy dec'd), Lyla Osborne (Estel), Edith Gruer (Ed), Juanita Shephard (Bob dec'd), Linda Hester (Junior), Guilda Sue Honaker (Sammy), all of Pleasant Garden, and Jacqueline Osborne (Alvin) of Liberty; two grandchildren, Tabitha A. Fleming and Tyler C. Fleming; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Sidney Allen Absher (Jean widow), of Virginia; and two grandchildren, Meghan A. and Bethany B. Fleming.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, at Pleasant Garden Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment was in Gilmore Memorial Park. Revs. John and Daniel Absher officiating.
