A master sergeant who served 18 years in the U.S. Air Force after serving 10 years in the U.S. Navy, Harold W. Bills died of cancer Thursday, June 28, 2001, in a Clackamas, Ore., hospital. He was 71.
Born Nov. 10, 1929, in Crete, Neb., Mr. Bills was raised and educated in Lincoln, Neb. He was a member of the Air Force Service Association and the American Legion in Vancouver. He served in both the Korean Conflict and in Vietnam. After leaving the military, he worked for the Veterans Administration for 21 years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed old planes, trains and cars, reading, and collecting clocks.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mona, at home; two daughters, Michaela Slaughter of Salem, Ore., and Lee Eastman of Cornelius, Ore.; one son, Kris of Vallejo, Calif.; two sisters, Donna Love and Barbara Love, both of Lincoln, Neb.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
There will be no service. Davies Burial and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mona M. Bills died Sept. 20, 2002, at age 70. She was born Mona Taylor on Oct. 7, 1931, in Eugene, OR. A homemaker, she moved in 1974 to Portland.
Survivors include her daughters, Michaela Slaughter and Lee Eastman; son, Kris; sister, Connie Hanson; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
