CHARLOTTE -- Milton Lloyd Blackmon Sr., 61, of Charlotte, formerly of Hope Mills, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004.
Mr. Blackmon was an Air Force veteran and worked for the Postal Service for more than 20 years before retiring. He volunteered with the American Red Cross and United Way. He also was a public safety officer for IPC International.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today in Forest Hill Church in Charlotte by Dr. Philip H. Fike.
Mr. Blackmon is survived by a son, Air Force Lt. Col. Milton L. Blackmon Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Melissa B. Kohout of Carrboro; a brother Clarence R. Blackmon Jr. of Fayetteville; and his companion, Mary Holbrook of Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forest Hill Church.
