CLOVIS ADAMS COOPER, JR.


...aged 62 of the Burrville Community, passed away peacefully at the Lifecare Center of Morgan County on November 13, 2004, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He retired from Lockheed-Martin after 31 years in December of 1999, at which time his "full-time" job became his family and watching his wonderful grandchildren grow. Mr. Cooper was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a founding member of the Burrville Volunteer Fire Dept. He became fire chief around 1987 and served until his illness prevented him from his duties this past spring.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father, Clovis A. Cooper, Sr., mother, Mary Eva Greer Cooper; and son-in-law, Timothy William Bohanan. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 38 years, Bridget Smarsh Cooper; daughters, Crystal Cooper Doss and husband, D. Wayne and Dawn Cooper Bohanan; grandchildren, Willie Clovis Doss, Benjamin Wayne Doss, Shane Gregory Doss, Christopher William Bohanan, Jessica Ann Bohanan, Wesley Earl Bohanan; brother, John D. Cooper, all of Burrville; aunts, Vella Owens of Jamestown, Goldie Leonard and Lois Wright of Dayton, Ohio; uncle, John Dale Greer of Atlanta, GA; mother-in-law, Helen Smarsh; sister-in-law, Sheila Smarsh Rowland and husband Cordell; brothers-in-law, Larry Pete Smarsh and wife Betty Lynn, Gunter Smarsh; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful friends and neighbors.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 16, 2004, from 6-8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Sunbright. Funeral services will begin at 8 p.m. A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, 11 a.m. in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Burrville.
