Robert William "Bill" Curtis
July 1, 1941 - May 16, 2009


Robert William "Bill" Curtis, 67, of Gering, Nebraska, our beloved father and brother, went to be with his Lord, Saturday May 16th, at 8:50 p.m at his home.

His memorial service will be held Thursday, May 21, 2009, at 1:30 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Gering, Nebraska with Rev. Lauren Ekdahl officiating. Inurnment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery with military honors by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.

Friends may visit from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Gering Memorial Chapel with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

He was born July 1, 1941, at his home on Gering, Nebraska to Francis Willard and Elma Pauline (Catlett) Curtis. He received his early education in the Gering schools and graduated from high school in 1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1959 to 1963. He married Dolores Jean Hetchler on March 9, 1963, in Grand Ledge, Michigan and made their home in Gering after leaving the Air Force. He was a member of the Legionnaires, First United Methodist Church in Gering, the Eagles Lodge and NRA.

Survivors include his daughter, Wendy Caldwell and husband Louis "Bubba;" son, Robert W "Bob" Curtis and wife, Amy; grandchildren, Reagan, Dillon and Cruzz; sisters, Carol West, Jean Hamburger, Jane Brown and Ramona Weddle; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francis and mother, Elma Curtis and two brothers, Jeremiah Steele and Elmer Lee Steele.

He was great man, whom many called friend. He lived every day the best he could and made all smile that he came in contact with. He will be greatly missed, but "we’ll see you on the other side Pop."

A memorial has been established to Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
