Man Dies, 18-Wheeler Overturns on I-10

KERRVILLE -- A San Antonio man was killed and 49,000 pounds of frozen fish, oysters, and crabs were destroyed Saturday when an 18-wheel tractor-trailer overturned, dumping the seafood onto Interstate 10 outside Kerrville.

Gordon Dunn, 63, of San Antonio died in the accident. He was traveling west on I-10 in heavy rain when he lost control of his car, skidded and came to rest on the inside lane of traffic about a mile east of Kerrville, according to Department of Public Safety officials. Two other drivers, trying to avoid striking Dunn's car, had a minor rear-end accident and pulled onto the highway's shoulder. A moment later, the driver of the tractor-trailer tried to avoid hitting the vehicles on the shoulder by driving onto the median. But the truck struck Dunn's car, Trooper James Behrens said. The truck overturned, rupturing the trailer and scattering the seafood onto the median.

Dunn's wife was injured and listed in stable condition Sunday.
