ED NOTE: Emigh's family was from Wisconsin. He was involved with "The Republic of Texas" organization which wanted Texas independence from the USA (Texas being the only state which can "legally" secede). Somehow, someway...he became involved with a branch of this organization that chose a more radical path and in 1998, Emigh and two others were indicted on 9 various charges that included death threats to President Clinton. Emigh was acquitted on all charges but the other two are still in prison, one dying (June 2010). [Interested people can refer to a large number of items on Dogpile Search Engine.] But the following reference applies to Emigh's situation at the time of arrest, which is all of the data that I can find re his family condition, "Emigh supports himself and a sister with Social Security payments and by doing odd jobs."

I haven't found her. The Thomae-Garza Funeral Directors have a web-site with obituaries going back several years. None is availble for Emigh. The 7 days delay listed above between death notice and burial implies a problem of some sort. I suspect the lack of an obituary was intentional. The military records had to be readily available, either from the sister or with time to prepare, by Emigh himself, who had remained in the Harlingen area where he had lived before and during trial.

I knew him. He bunked on the second floor near the dayroom. He arrived at the 482nd as a prisoner...one of his escorts was Sgt Curtis H. McKeithan. Emigh was unpredictable. Occasionally, totally out of control. He could go from normal to violent in an instant. Very strong. Very dangerous.
