Melvin Lloyd Green

CLOVER, S.C. - Melvin Lloyd Green, 72, passed away Oct. 22, 2008, at VA Medical Center in Columbia, S.C. Mr. Green is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy "Dot" Carver Green of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Edwin L. and Dorothy Green of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Robert Sinclair of Gastonia; brother, Donald "Donnie" Green of Cumberland, Md.; two sisters, Virginia High of Northport, Ala., Janice Signes of Union City, Pa.; grandchildren, Joe, Matt and Greg and four great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

He was born July 5, 1936, in Lonaconing, Md., son of the late Harry L. and Dora Bittinger Green. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters.

Mr. Green was a longtime member of South Gastonia Church of God and loved his church family very much. He loved his pet dog, Pepper and he also loved camping.

Visitation will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel in Gastonia. A funeral service will be held there at 11 a.m. Friday, officiated by the Revs. Bobby Gilley and Sam Barnett.

Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia.
