William "Bill" Thomas Kennedy

(March 10, 1939 - July 18, 2008)


Funeral services for Mr. William "Bill" Thomas Kennedy will be at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2008 in the Rush Chapel, Oberlin with Reverend Kenneth Crumbley officiating. Interment will follow in China Cemetery, Elton under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oberlin.

Mr. Kennedy, 69, of Oberlin entered eternal rest on Friday, July 18, 2008 in his residence with his loving family near to his side.

Bill was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from BellSouth after thirty years. He was the CWA Union President in Natchez, Mississippi from 1998 – 1999, former governor of the Oakdale Moose Lodge and lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans – Lake Charles chapter. He was a member of Nebletts Bluff Historical Society, a lifetime member of the AFL-CIO telephone pioneers and co-owner of Kennedy Acres Produce. Bill loved gardening, hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He considered Nebletts Bluff his second home.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of forty-nine years, Callie “Chris” Kennedy of Oberlin; two daughters, Mildred Diane Kennedy Cooper and her husband, Jackie of Winnfield and Donna Marie Kennedy of Oberlin; one sister, Connie Waters & her husband, Dan of Shreveport; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home, Oberlin on Saturday, July 19, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and on Sunday, July 20, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m.
