James David Lanier, 66, of St. Albans, WV died December 25, 2007 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, WV. Born May 1, 1941 in St. Albans, WV, he was a son of the late John William, Sr. and Margaret Knapp Lanier.
Jim was retired from YMCA, Charleston, WV and was a member of the Eternal Life Church of God and was a Royal Ranger Commander with 25 years through the Assemblies of God. He was a member of the Collis P. Huntington Historical Railroad Society for 23 years.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn; his son, David and his wife, Jennifer of St. Albans, WV; his grandchildren, Josh and Gracie; his sisters, Janet Turley and her husband, Philip and Betty Bell and her husband, Freddy all of South Charleston, WV; his brothers, Danny Lanier and his wife, Dessie of South Charleston, WV, Johnny Lanier and his wife, Lori of Campbells Creek, WV. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and and a host of friends including "The Marble Gang."
Service will be 11:00am Friday, December 28, 2007 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Avenue, St. Albans, WV with Bishop Robert Smith officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, WV. Friends may call from 6-9pm Thursday at the funeral home.
