ROBERT L. McFARLAND


MOUNT OLIVE --- Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Robert L. McFarland, 62, of 280 Cricket Ridge Road, died Thursday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel in Goldsboro. Burial with Masonic rites and military honors will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. McFarland was born at Sparta, Ky., and was the son of the late Ernest and Susie Shelly McFarland. He was an alumnus of Campbell University where he served as the assistant financial aide director. He was a member of Nicholasville Baptist Church in Nicholasville, Ky. He also was a member of Mount Olive Masonic Lodge #208, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a Sudan Temple Shriner, and a member of the Wayne County Shrine Club and Sudan Temple Mini Rigs. He was a life member of the NCOA and the Retired Enlisted Association.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy F. McFarland; a son, Robert Eugene McFarland of Kingston, Tenn.; a daughter, Susie Denise McFarland of Fort Sam Houston, Texas; a brother, Harold G. McFarland of Waynesville, Mo.; a sister, Barbara Ann Stipes of Nicholasville, Ky.; and a grandchild.

The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7 to 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home in Goldsboro and at other times at the residence.

MINNIE "PEGGY" MCFARLAND

Minnie "Peggy" McFarland, 70, Mount Olive, passed away Friday at Windsor Point Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with Mr. Rick Pridgen officiating.

She was born in Duplin County to the late Jake and Lesie Smith Foss and was married to the late Robert L. McFarland.

Mrs. McFarland is survived by one son, Robert E. McFarland and wife, Robin, of Knoxville, Tenn.; one daughter, Susie M. Willis and husband, Barry, of Angier; brothers, Jordan Foss and wife, Johnnie, of New Bern, Joe Foss and wife, Mollie, of Faison and Raven Foss and wife, Sherry, of Faison; sisters, Joan Price and husband, Daryl, of Kenansville and Linda Millard and husband, Joseph, of Faison; and grandchildren, William, Nickolas and Jeffrey.

The family received friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home of Goldsboro and at other times will be at the home of her daughter, Susie M. Willis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 490, New Bern, N.C. 28563, or The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College St., Oxford, N.C. 27565.
