Retired Master Sergeant Jerry Dan Parks, 75, of Myrtle Road passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 11, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home in Goldsboro. Burial with full military honors will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Parks was born in Union County, SC on September 5, 1936 to the late Robert and Lillie Kingsmore Parks. He was retired after 24 years in the United States Air Force, having served tours in Vietnam, Thailand and the United Kingdom. He was a member of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Chapel.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Dorothy Parks; three sons, Alan Parks of Goldsboro, Neil Parks and wife, Teresa of Garner and Derek Parks and wife, Linda of Raleigh; one daughter, Debra Luther and husband, Mike of Utah; one brother, James R. Parks and wife, Gayle of Union, SC; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27533. The family would like to send a special thank you for the wonderful care given to “Mr. Dan” during his stay there.
