ALVA LEE RICE


FAYETTEVILLE - Alva Lee Rice, 63, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at the Richmond, Va., Veterans Medical Center following a long illness. Born March 25, 1938, in Beards Fork, he was the son of the late Bert Rice and Vida Lusk Rice. Mr. Rice was in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1958, an iron and tower construction worker, and was of the Protestant faith.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bert Rice Jr.; and a sister, Stella Burgess. Survivors include three brothers, John Rice of Oak Hill and Roy "Danny" Rice and Donald Rice, both of Clewiston, Fla.; two sisters, Betty Campbell of Hilltop and Beulah L. Scruggs of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Gordon Humphreys officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements by Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
