BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. Harold M. Roop, age 75, passed away after a brief illness. He was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Jonesville, Va., to the late Paul and Virgie Livesay Roop. Harold served his country for 13 years in the Air Force, serving in the Korean War. He was retired from Eastman Chemical Co. as an industrial mechanic after 25 years of service. He was a member of Adams Chapel United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post No. 3.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Jackie Roop of the home; son, Mitchell Roop and daughter, Judi Hicks and husband Gary; brother, Robert C. Roop and wife Bessie; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 18, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 8 p.m., with Pastor Billy Byrd officiating. Graveside services will be conducted Friday, June 19, 2009, at 11 a.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends and family are asked to assemble at the graveside by 10:45 a.m.
