Herbert L. Sherrill


SHERRILL, Herbert L., retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col., 84, of Brandon, Fla., entered into rest April 3, 2009. During Herbert' s Air Force career, he served during World War II, and the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He was a fighter pilot and flew jets during the Vietnam conflict where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was an avid fisherman and a fan of the Buccaneers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty. Survivors include children, Herbert Sherrill II, and Kathryn Harris; and grandchildren, Michael Harris, Krystin Mays, and Nichole Sherrill.

The family will receive friends 9-9:30 a.m. Monday, at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home (2323 W. Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511). A graveside service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2009, at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens with full military honors. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

SHERRILL, Betty M., 77, of Sun City Center, died Saturday (Oct. 16, 2004). She was a personal secretary for former state Rep. Spud Clements, as well as a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and the First Baptist Church of Brandon. Survivors include her husband, Herbert; a son, Herbert II; a daughter, Kathryn Hartman; a brother, Paul W. Morrison; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
