COLUMBIA, SC: Charles Lloyd Skipper, 75, died Sunday, January 18, 2009. He was born in Rockingham, NC, a son of the late Daniel Jackson & Ida Hancock Skipper. He was predeceased by his first wife of forty-seven years, Helen Jumper Skipper. He was retired from the USAF after thirty years with the rank of CMSgt, having served during the Korean & Vietnam Wars. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Mr. Skipper is survived by his wife, Mary Rebecca Arnold Cannon Skipper; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles L., Jr. and Dianne Skipper of Chapin and Michael C. and Tracey Skipper of Albuquerque, NM; five grandchildren, Christopher Skipper and Brady Skipper, both of Chapin, Cory Skipper, Casey Ann Skipper and Camren Skipper, all of Albuquerque; a brother, Jackson L. Skipper of Columbia; and a sister, Rena White of Rockingham, NC.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and services will be held Friday at 1 p.m at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, 3926 Devine Street, Columbia, SC.
Interment, with military honors, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC.
Honorary pallbearers are Christopher, Brady, & Cory Skipper, Jack Skipper, Paul Barnett, Jack Bradshaw, Doug Horton, Bob Kunkel, Jay McElveen, Paul Williams, and George Wright.
