VINCENT E. STACY


PORTSMOUTH - Major Vincent E. Stacy, USAF (Ret.), 82, of 69 Sunset Road, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2003, at the Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Fla., after a brief illness.

Born in Crystal Falls, Mich., May 15, 1921, he was the son of Edmund and Doris (Cummings) Stacy and had been a resident of Portsmouth since 1969.

Major Stacy served in the U.S. Air Force as a fighter pilot during World War II and flew numerous F-86 missions during the Korean War. He retired after 22 years of service.

He was past president of the Portsmouth Kiwanis Club, a long-time member of Portsmouth Country Club, member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Knights of Columbus, and was active with the Republican Party.

The husband of the late Anna Marie (Carey) Stacy, survivors include his sons, Vincent Stacy Jr. of Portsmouth, Patrick Stacy of East Rochester, and Thomas Stacy of Alpharetta, Ga.; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Julianna Marie, Madison, and Cassie; his sisters and brother, Sr. Honora Stacy, Jane Grosse, Catherine Stacy, Timothy Stacy, Corinne Ross, Naomi Phillips, Rita Vela, and Bernadette Wolff.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Summer Street, Portsmouth, N.H., on Friday May 30, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth, N.H., on Thursday May 29, from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Central Processing Center, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688.
