WILLIAM STILLWELL


A graveside service for William Robert "Bob" Stillwell, 80, will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park. The Rev. Johnny Sasser will officiate.

Mr. Stillwell died Wednesday morning at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fayetteville.

A resident of Rocky Point, he was formerly of Goldsboro. He retired from the United States Air Force as a jet mechanic, worked at Kemp Furniture and retired from Firestone. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2615 and the American Legion Wayne Post #11.

He was a native of Swain County and was the son of the William Crawford and Vinnie Lee DeHart Stillwell.

His survivors include one daughter, Angel Newell of Rocky Point; three stepsons, Billy Edmundson of Mount Olive, Bobby Edmundson of Elm City, and Jacky Edmundson of Elton; two stepdaughters, Estelle Burris of Goldsboro and Peggy Alphin of Calypso; one brother, Billy Stillwell of Hendersonville; one grandson, Cameron Matthew Stillwell; and nine step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Burke Stillwell, and one sister, Betty Collins.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
