Franklyn William Watts died on September 21, 2010, just days after the death of his wife of 69 years. He suffered a massive stroke on September 16, from which there was no recovery. Those of us who knew him, know he died of a broken heart when he lost Evelyn. He died at his daughter's home, with family at his side.
Born in Morton, Illinois on May 13, 1921, he was the only child of Frank and Freda (Wenninger) Watts. He joined the Army Air Corps on September 21, 1939 and retired from the Air Force on September 30, 1961. His service took him to Japan, Korea, Newfoundland and throughout the US, accompanied by his wife, and his children who survive him: Judy, Craig, Karen (Allan Baris) and David (Ken Cederstrand) Watts. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Scott Gebhardt, Sara and Daniel Baris and Florette Cederstrand; as well as beloved cousins in the Midwest. His parents, his wife, and an infant daughter preceded him in death.
Interment of Franklyn's and Evelyn's ashes will occur at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington. At his request, no services will be held.

Evelyn Eileen Watts, died Sept. 14, 2010, at home with her family at her side. Born in Cisco, Ill., on Sept. 30, 1922, she was a gifted athlete who loved to laugh and never turned away from a challenge.
She leaves behind her husband of 69 years, Franklyn Watts; and her children, Judith, Craig, Karen (Allan Baris) and David Watts (Ken Cederstrand). She loved her grandchildren without reservation, and Scott Gebhardt, Sara and Daniel Baris and Florette Cederstrand also mourn her passing.
Diagnosed with an inoperable form of cancer in 2009, she spent her last months with the same kind of grace and good humor that characterized her life. She was a scrapper, never giving in to the pain or suffering. She was concerned for her family until the very end of her days. A remarkable daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
With her daughter, Judy, at her side, she graduated from nursing school in 1973. She was the oldest member of her R.N. class, the pride of her family, and a kind and gentle nurse to all those she cared for in her career.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister and infant daughter.
She is also survived by her brother, Richard (Jean) Wangler, her sister-in-law, Dorothy Dowdle, as well as their families.
For those of us who were fortunate to know her well, she was the sunshine of our lives, and our Sweet Evelina will live forever in our hearts.
