JOHN ARPIN
Dec. 3, 1936 --- Nov. 8, 2007
This photo was taken at Trebor Tichenor's home during a St. Louis Ragtime Festival where
John was appearing. While Arpin was not unknown in "The 48," he was better known in his
native Canada, residing in Toronto. He was an internationally acclaimed pianist, composer,
and arranger and performed in a variety of settings including upscale clubs, concert halls,
and hotels...about which he was fond of saying, "I opened up a lot of hotels. Thank God I
didn't close any." He was called a great popularizer of syncopated music and, at the time
of his death, had recorded over 60 record & CD albums, the majority of which were ragtime.
