Jack Rummel, DMD, of Boulder, CO, was taking some vacation time away from dentures in order to pursue his ragtime hobby; which, unfortunately, has turned into a second vocation. Rummel is one of those people who could have been anything he wanted to be. He took up ragtime piano in his 40s and composition in his 50s and moved from clumsy and stilted to accomplished. No mean feat at that age. His ragtime interest sort of waffles back and forth between the classical and folk styles. "Mississippi Soul" and "West Texas Fiddler" are two nice works.
