Born John Edgar Hubbell on April 6, 1928, at Santa Barbara, Calif., Ed (or Eddie) Hubbell is mostly associated with the New York area jazz bands and various recording and touring units originating there. He's worked with groups fronted by Billy Butterfield, Doc Cheatham, Eddie Condon, Kenny Davern, "Wild Bill" Davidson, Pee Wee Erwin, Bobby Hackett, Max Kaminsky, Billy Maxted, Phil Napoleon, Bob Wilber, Johnny Windhurst, and The World's Greatest Jazz Band with Yank Lawson and Bob Haggart.
