The TICHENOR Family & Mike MONTGOMERY

St. Louis, Mo. ŠJune 14, 1985 - George C. Willick

L-R, Andrew, Trebor, Jeanette, & Virginia Tichenor with Mike Montgomery. This isn't my shot...oh, it was my camera, film, and finger on the button but it was set up by someone else...a nice lady as I recall. I just happened to be walking behind her and saw what she was doing. So I stuck my lens by her ear and took this photo. I stole it....just couldn't resist. I'm glad I did for the historical importance of it but am ashamed that I didn't think of it myself.

It is also a sad photograph. Jeanette was slimmer and we didn't see it. The cancer that would claim her life a little over a year later was already hard at work. She was the most personally endeared of the Ragtimer's wives to me...a gentle, kindred soul...highly intelligent and skilled as a cartographer. Jeanette was so sensitive of other people's feelings that she was often offended by my 'straight to the jugular' approach. And she would always express her disapproval of my attitudes...but soon forgave me. She is missed in reality but not gone from our hearts. GCW
