Norway's Morten Larsen is easily in the top five pianists who work ragtime and traditional jazz. He has a master's touch and nearly flawless memory. Eubie Blake considered Larsen to be one of the best pianists he'd ever heard (that's a joke with Eubie, but this time he really meant it, "I've been listening to this guy for half an hour, waiting for him to make a mistake, and he hasn't made any!"). Morten is classically trained and while his playing is powerful, his build and frame are not, almost frail. If I had to pick which he does best, it would be his jazz band work which I really love. Just an all around great player.
