"Hannes Bok"
A Futurian. Outstandingly brilliant artist in style and concept. Learned execution from Maxfield Parrish. Sold his first cover
to the December, 1939, issue of Weird Tales. Somewhat work perverted by twisted sexual content that cost him friends and
commissions among the editors in his time period, but would be considered mild by today's standards. Multitalented, he was also a poet, designer, and science fiction writer. His works include two books, The Sorcerer's Ship (1942) and Beyond the Golden Stairs (1948), a continuous output of short stories across his career, and he expanded the work and fragments of A. Merritt.
Bok believed in, and actively practiced, astrology, writing at least 13 articles about astrology for Mystic Magazine.
His original artwork should be collected with vigor. A large amount of Bok's work was preserved in three volumes by editor/writer
Emil Petaja and are now collector's items. Currently, artwork in print by Underwood-Miller (see bibliography below).
(NOTE. Hannes Bok may have been born Wayne Woodard, some say in Duluth, Minn...taking the name Hannes Bok from Johann S. Bach, or so the story goes. No SS# found to verify anything.)
PEN NAME: Dolbokgov (used for shared work with fellow artist, Boris Dolgov)
