Robert A. Heinlein

"The Universe will let us know---later---whether
or not Man has any right to expand through it."

The most anthologized author of the Science Fiction writers.

Robert Anson Heinlein was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in 1929, and after serving on aircraft carriers and destroyers, retired as disabled in 1934. Heinlein studied mathematics and physics at the University of California and worked as a mechanical engineer during WWII at a Naval Air factory in Philadelphia. After the war, Bob tried his hand at various odd jobs, including silver mining, before turning to write Science Fiction. Heinlein's first sf book, Rocket Ship Galileo, was published in 1947.

Some Heinlein stories that, once read, never go away are "The Roads Must Roll" and The Puppet Masters. Heinlein thought his best story was "The Green Hills of Earth." 1997 saw the release of the movie Starship Troopers, a rather disappointing and callow version of the book.

Robert and Virginia took a trip around the world in 1953 and 1954, published as Tramp Royale, the work didn't appear in print until 1989.
